Adjustable Bench Review

Finding an adjustable bench that fits in small apartments is hard. Most benches are too big and too heavy. I researched the most popular budget options for small spaces.

What’s in the Box? (Based on Listings)
Typically includes: the bench frame, removable leg extension, and assembly tools. Weight is around 20-25 kg. Folding size is important — look for models that fold to less than 130cm long. Steel frame with faux leather padding is standard for budget models.

Pros (Based on Research)

• Saves space — folds flat and can stand against wall, good for 10-15m2 rooms
• Multiple angles — 6-7 positions for incline, flat, decline — you can do bench press, shoulder press, sit-ups with one bench
• Strong frame — most budget benches hold 250-300 kg
• Good for a small home gym — you don’t need 3 different benches

Cons (Honest)

• Heavy to move — even folding, 20 kg is not easy to carry upstairs
• Cheap padding on some models — can tear after 1 year if left in the sun
• Assembly takes 30-45 minutes — needs 2 people for some models
• Wobbles a bit on uneven floors — check your floor is flat

Who Is It For?
Ideal for beginners and intermediate lifters who train at home, people in apartments, garages, or small rooms. If you have adjustable dumbbells already, this bench completes your home gym.

Who Is It NOT For?
Not for heavy powerlifters over 300 lbs, and not if you have ZERO space — even folded, it needs 0.5m2 against a wall.

Small Apartment Tip
Measure your space before buying. Best tip from my research: place the bench near a window, fold it after a workout, and cover it with a sheet to protect from the sun. You can work out in a 2 m x 1m area.

Verdict
For under $150, an adjustable folding bench is the best upgrade after resistance bands and dumbbells. Choose a model with 6+ angles and wheels for easy moving.
